Gran Turismo 5 is awesome!

My favorite part is how smooth the framerate is for the nicely detailed high quality install screen.

So lazy but at least I got a Sega 32x!

0

Ah fuck, I’m so damn lazy; especially when it comes to updating websites.  I have ideas, I have plans but I’m too lazy to actually use a computer now.  Maybe it’s because I spend all my time playing my bitchin’ new(ish) Sega 32X!  No shit, probably the worst console addon ever made and I now own a piece of shit history.

I picked it up for around $50 with several games.  The price was a bit high but how often do you actually see these damn things sitting around in a video game store?  The noteworthy games it came with are Star Wars Arcade, Cosmic Carnage and Doom.  Also came with Virtua Fighter, some golf game, some baseball game, some motocross game and uh, some other game.

It’s such an awesome device that the dog decided I’m not allowed to photograph it unless she’s in the picture.

Sega should have released a Dachshund compatible controller for the Genesis/32X.  Maybe with Kinect out, animals can finally join in on playing games with their human counter parts.  The biggest hurdle for human/animal gaming so far has been animals lack of thumbs but now that your body is the controller, Jazzy could totally play some games.

Final Fantasy XIV Beta part 2!

0

After scouring the internet, I was able to find some info on how to actually download the FFXIV beta.

http://www.ffxivcore.com/topic/12719-open-beta-patch-exe-download-install-instructions/

About 1/4 down the page, there are a few links to the torrent files needed to properly download the beta.  The downloader that Square developed is a massive pile of dog shit, don’t use it.  Just fire up your favorite torrent client and follow the instructions in the link above.  I went from 0kbps download speed with the official downloader showing 0 seeds to over 1.5mbit/s with 300+ seeders.

Final Fantasy XIV Beta

I’ve been trying to download the Final Fantasy FXIV public beta for about a week now.  Unfortunately, their downloader is a great be steaming pile of shit.  No, I take that back, that would be an insult to shit.  After a week of downloading, I’ve manage to get about 50% of the files downloaded.  The problem is that it uses a BitTorrent downloader to get the files.  When managed properly, this could work great.  I’m sure most people know how torrents work by now.  Let’s just say that Sony’s tracker has 0 fucking seeders.  I’m uploading my share just fine but downloading is pretty piss poor.

This worries me a bit.  This will probably be the exact same system used to patch the game when it is release and already it’s crap.  Also if it takes too long, you get this horseshit.

Apple released new iPod’s yesterday just to make fun of us

0

I was so busy yesterday watching some jackass hold the Discovery Channel hostage (hey, I hate Man vs. Wild too but at least I’m not psycho) that I completely missed Zombie Steve Jobs unveiling a few new iPods.

The new iPod touch, we all expected this was coming out soon.  With it’s new sexy hi-res retina display, it’s just yet another reason why you shouldn’t be an iPad. Think of it as the iPad Nano if you will.

The real surprise to me from yesterdays keynotes (besides Steve Jobs not eating aborted fetus’ on stage) was the new iPod Nano and the new iPod Shuffle.

The new iPod Shuffle. What is this shit, Apple?

Do you think we’re fucking retarded?  You take the previous generation iPod shuffle, cut about 45% of it off, and re-release it as a new product?  The above is a really piss poor photoshop by myself, but if you look at the actual finished product, it looks exactly like that. Is this ground breaking Apple innovation or what?  At least they finally acknowledged what an absolute epic failure the last iPod Shuffle was and it seems that you can use normal earbuds with this one!

The new Nano is just a crappy little touch screen that looks like they just pasted it on top of their newly redesigned Shuffles.  It looks like one of those crappy little LCD picture frames that you can stick on your fridge.  It looks damn near unusable if you actually have big manly thumbs like I do.  Scrolling through 8 to 16gb of music on that thing will be a real chore, especially since it only displays 4 album covers at a time.

I love the new iPod Touch and the new Nano logos.  They really fit the brand well and give you an idea of what to expect when you own one of the products.

Fingerprints!

At least they didn’t fuck with the iPod Classic this year.  The current iPod Classic is perfection.  It has all the goodies that made the old iPod’s such a success a long with a sleeker and slimmer design, better battery life and a good price point for the 160gb model.  Maybe Zombie Steve hasn’t lost his mind completely, but he’s getting pretty damn close.  Too bad my cat produces more innovation while hes taking a shit than Apple does with their new products.

Mourning over a lost iPod

So I always thought “Nah, it’ll never happen to me”. It finally did. I lost my beloved 30gb black iPod.

I left it in a rental car buried deep within the center console. By the time I had realized it, the car had already been rented out to someone else. I hope that this someone enjoys their new iPod and treats it well. It was a very good friend of mine.

Tech Tip: Google Voice benefits for active job seekers

0

Here is an interesting trick that randomly popped into my head one night. Google voice has a feature that will allow you to record calls at the press of a button. Being in the job market, I got the idea to keep track of job details by utilizing this feature.

When sending out resumes, post your Google voice number as the best number to reach you at. This is a great benefit because seeing the calls coming to you through Google voice, you know that they are calls from potential employers. When you answer the call, you can give a brief statement letting the caller know that you wish to record the call. If they are fine with this, press 4 on your keypad and Google Voice will play a short message and begin recording the call. At the end of the call, press 4 again to stop and then you can retrieve the recording online.

This is useful if you find yourself taking a call from a potential employer when you’re not near a notepad or computer to take down the details you need.

Google voice is entirely free and open to the public now. There is really no reason not to have a Google Voice account these days. Get one if you don’t have it and use my tip above if you’re on the job market. Who knows, an employer might be impressed by how resourceful you are.

Robot costumes @ The Shelter

0

Last night, we went to a club called The Shelter in Atlanta for their Metropolis robot costume contest. The grand prize for the contest was an Apple iPad. There were quite a few people in robot costumes but only a few really stood out. Mostly the half naked women but a really awesome A.W.S.O.M.-O costume. I was too busy drinking to really take a lot of pics but here is one of the finalist.

The girl on the far left won. Not surprising, she was only wearing shorts and body paint. I didn’t vote in the contest as I’m really a robot wearing a human costume. Had this been a human costume party, I’d have a new iPad to use while taking a crap from now on.
